Digital & Platform Safety

Our safety, privacy, and platform policies.

This page outlines how Raise the Stars protects tutors, students, and families across our digital platform. It is maintained by the Raise the Stars team and does not represent independent certification.

Trust & Safety Standards

Every tutor on Raise the Stars completes ID verification, a police clearance certificate, and an interview before teaching their first session. We do not allow anonymous accounts.

Data & Privacy (PIPEDA / Provincial Acts)

We handle personal data in compliance with Canadian privacy law. Information you submit during onboarding is used only for identity verification, secure matching with families, payments, and platform integrity. We never sell your data.

Minors & Parental Consent

Tutors aged 16–17 must provide verified parental consent and may only tutor under restricted hours. All sessions involving minors follow our two-adult awareness and reporting protocol.

Background Checks

A valid Police Clearance Certificate is required prior to your first session — no exceptions. Online approvals are accepted, completed in about 5 minutes, and reimbursed with your first lesson.

Incident Reporting & Code of Conduct

All tutors agree to our Code of Conduct covering professionalism, communication boundaries, and zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination. Concerns can be reported confidentially at any time.
